Francis Shiman-Hackett has been obsessed with sailboats since he sailed a sunfish on a lake at age 8. He bought his first sailboat, a 16′ Daysailor at age 12, and sold it to move up to an ODay 22 at 14. He has lived aboard a MacWester 27 and a Dufoir 35, and while he now lives on land, continues to race and cruise a Kirie 37 throughout New England.
Francis grew up racing 420s in Marblehead, MA, and continues to drive, navigate, and trim on everything from Viper 640s to an 80′ Maxi. He has raced throughout the US and Caribbean as navigator, helmsman, and trimmer for Newport-Bermuda, Chicago-Mac, and hundreds of coastal distance races. Francis delivers racing boats, cruisers, and powerboats year round, both locally and offshore with his Yachtmaster Offshore 200 ton and USCG 100 ton Master license.
