June 2, 2023: For the 4th time, Phil will enter the Bermuda 1-2, a 635 mile blue water passage between Newport, RI and St. George’s Bermuda. Join us on Facebook for a live broadcast of the start!

Follow the voyage! Click here for our boat tracker.

This will be his first race on board Fearless, a Sunfast 3300. This voyage will likely take 4-5 days, during which Phil will be the only crew member on the boat to navigate, make sail changes, perform any necessary maintenance, and take care of himself. He will send in blogs, photos, videos and will connect by live video with our crew of Virtual Shipmates while he sails.

This race encourages safety, good seamanship, communication, and on-going gear and technique development and testing.  It is an event designed to accommodate and challenge both single-handed cruisers and racers alike โ€“ from the โ€œrock starโ€ to the Corinthian โ€œevery manโ€.  The race is sailed in two parts: Leg One by a lone skipper from Newport to Bermuda, and, following a brief layover, Leg Two back Newport with one crew member โ€“ hence the origin of the eventโ€™s name.

This race is part of our 2023 campaign Recognizing 26. 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. To highlight this statistic, we will sail at least 2600 nautical miles on 26 separate voyages in 2023. Track the progress here.
