Charting Connections: An Afternoon at the Boston Museum of Science

Join Epilepsy Foundation New England and Sail For Epilepsy for an afternoon of nautical fun and new connections at the Boston Museum of Science! After a light snack, spend the rest of the afternoon visiting the museum – your ticket is included as part of the event.

WHEN: Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 1pm to 5pm
WHERE: Boston Museum of Science, 1 Science Park, Boston, MA 02114

Space for this event is limited. Please register by March 24, 2025 to save your spot.

Event cost: $5 per family, with scholarships available for those who may not otherwise be able to attend. 

Parking: free onsite at the Museum garage. (tickets validated during the event). Alternatives to driving:  https://www.mos.org/visit/directions

What’s the Plan?

  • Nautical activities & afternoon snack: 1pm to 3pm.
    Juice, water, sparkling water, soda, tea and coffee, along with a selection of cookies and fresh fruit will be available.
  • Visit Museum: 3pm to 4:30pm.
    Families can choose to go together or there will be community health workers available to bring teams of kids into the museum for a scavenger hunt while adults have an opportunity for further networking.
  • Event conclusion: 4:30pm – 5pm.
    Return to the event space to determine the scavenger hunt winners and participate in a final activity – the One More Step Challenge. Become a Virtual Shipmate and have your name added to the boat Sail For Epilepsy uses for voyages!

Meet Phil Haydon, a sailor who has medically controlled post-traumatic epilepsy. Hear about ways he isn’t letting epilepsy keep him from living a full life. Participate in family-friendly activities such as knot tying, flag making, and boat building and racing. Chat with other members of the local epilepsy community and form new connections.
