Challenged Sailors San Diego is the award-winning program providing adaptive sailing for people living with disabilities. Their primary fleet of Martin 16s are specially designed boats that allow people with disabilities to sail without limits. They are made to be SAFE. Adaptive sailors will sit comfortably in the main center area with a joystick and access to control every aspect of steering. Sailors sit in safe and comfortable bucket seats. Torso straps are available for sailors who may require them.
Prior to the camp, the volunteer companion sailors will learn about epilepsy and undergo basic training for seizure first aid. While on the water, the sailboats will be accompanied by a medical professional in a power driven chase boat.
