“It’s been a frustrating day. We’ve been hand steering for 24 hours because of the sea state. It wouldn’t permit an autopilot to do its job. That’s led to us being quite tired.

However, we started our strategy to get around the Gulf Stream, which was to enter the northward moving part of the meander -which wasn’t there. Which then meant we were heading straight to the the south heading part of the meander, which was there.

Rather than turn back to find the path, we decided to cross the meander. And here we are, hoping and praying that when we get to the other side, they’ll still be wind that allow us to turn north towards Newport.

Other than that, all is well on sailing vessel Fearless.

I can and I will.”
Shortly after taking this video, Phil and Coop swapped out the storm jib for the regular jib, to begin their charge towards Newport.
