Phil competed solo in the Red-White race on the evening of July 26^th 2019. This is a new race in the Mass Bay series and sails around Red-White government buoys, hence the name. The conditions were light and there were five entries. Leaving from Boston harbor at 7pm he had initially moderate winds followed by light winds to deal with. At about 4:50 am Phil finished 12 minutes behind the winner, and 4 minutes behind the second place boat. Both the 1^st and 2^nd boat had crews of 2 and the 3^rd-5^th boats were sailed solo. Phil was particularly pleased to place 1^st of the solo racers and also delighted that he placed so close to two extremely experienced crews ahead of him which include Olympic experience as well as transatalantic race experience.
